Advancing the mission of MU Extension
The next 100 years
MU Extension's distinct land-grant mission is to improve lives, communities
and economies by producing relevant, reliable and responsive educational
strategies that enhance access to the resources and research of the University
of Missouri. For the past 100 years, we have fulfilled that mission in countless
ways.
MU Extension provides
relevant youth education. In 2012, MU Extension engaged more than
282,000 young Missourians in skill-building activities and programs through 4-H,
including Robotics Camp, where they compete to build the best robot while
learning how robotics and mapping technologies improve agriculture.
MU Extension trains
reliable community leaders. In 2012, MU Extension Master Gardeners made
an estimated $2.86 million impact on their communities through their more than
145,000 volunteer hours.
MU Extension quickly
responds to disasters. In 2011, MU Extension responded proactively to
the Joplin tornado by establishing, in partnership with others, an emergency
Business Recovery Center that served more than 500 Joplin business owners.
We invite you to be a part of our relevant, reliable and responsive work.
When you give to MU Extension, you help improve lives, communities and economies
throughout the state. For more information on the impact of MU Extension on the
lives of Missourians, see our annual
report.
